Cartoons and Anime both suck ass.

When I was younger, I used to really get a kick out of animated stuff, but in the past few years I've gone from getting really excited about cartoons to just wanting to watch them for the purposes of picking them apart for every last flaw. 87.89% of mainstream American cartoons are marketed to kids, so people tell me I should watch anime. Most anime has weak storytelling and shitty generic...everything... What the fuck happened? I'd think I just didn't like cartoons period but I still have this overwhelming urge to keep making them.

I mean... I agree, most cartoons suck nowadays, but there are always some really good ones or you could watch some of the disney classics. I've recently started rewatching the little mermaid and lion king and I absolutely love them. As for anime... there's a shitload of them every year and even if most are generally low budgeted and crappy, there are always a few that are above and over the top.

you know why most cartoons are shitty? there marketed to kids. kids don't constantly pick things apart and analyze the cartoon, they just enjoy the funny voices and bright colors. there not intended for anyone over 13. thats probably why we dont enjoy them as much as we used to, we grew up

I guess so. I'd probably have said the same thing about 90's cartoons if I had been born in 80. I know there's exceptions, not everything sucks. Just doesn't seem like much of the new stuff is any good.

but yeah, a lot of cartoons are very poorly animated now-a-days.
have you watched Chowder? i think the artwork in this cartoon is really cool. and they use a cool oldschool technique using some underlying pattern to fill in the clothes..instead of coloring them in.

I tend to watch cartoons that i miss and feel good when i watch them again, like courage the cowardly dog, thundercats, and my all time fave is ed, edd n eddy.

The only anime i ever really got into was the old Gundam Wing series. That show was the shit. I wouldnt mind downloading the episodes somewhere.
